Free educational materials on key competences for representatives of adult education sector institutions
Nowadays, adult people in Poland, especially those over 50, often exhibit deficits in key competences, including, but not limited to: use of the mother tongue, knowledge of foreign languages, IT and digital skills, soft skills (personal, social, civic), and entrepreneurship competences (based on the Report on Desk Research: https://deinde.pl/en/report-poland/). Within the framework of key competences, the so-called basic skills are taught, the development of which is becoming increasingly important for functioning in the modern world.
About the project “Key Competences for People 50+” and its results
In response to these needs, a team of Polish educators, in cooperation with Norwegian educators, developed a set of educational tools and materials that are profiled in four areas of key competences, i.e. (1) Literacy competence; (2) Digital competence; (3) Personal, social and learning to learn competences; (4) Entrepreneurship competence.
The educational materials were developed as part of the “Key Competences for People 50+” project, implemented in partnership between Deinde sp. z o. o. and Stiftelsen Mangfold and Arbeidslivet (MiA) – a Norwegian institution with decades of experience in teaching basic skills.
The materials are made available for free to educational institutions, trainers, educators, counsellors, education providers, employers, people over 50, etc. via the website: www.deinde.pl (https://deinde.pl/rezultaty-4/). Below is also the QR code to download the materials. They can be used non-commercially under an open license (CC BY-NC-SA).
At www.deinde.pl you can read the content and download six results of the project:
(1) Methodology of training courses „Key Competences for People 50+” with a research section,
(2) Course 1: Digital competences,
(3) Course 2: Literacy competence,
(4) Course 3: Personal, social and learning to learn competences,
(5) Course 4: Entrepreneurship competences,
(6) Guidelines for educators on implementing and conducting key competences courses for people aged 50+.
Each KK course includes:
1.Curriculum:
Part 1 – syllabus
Part 2 – learning contents with educational outcomes
2.Materials for educators, trainers (training scenario/trainer’s manual) – a detailed scenario for conducting classes with content to be provided to participants: exercises, instructions, presentations, etc. The manual is to enable any trainer to prepare and conduct classes, including those trainers who have not previously conducted classes on such topics.
3.Training materials for trainees/participants – descriptions of exercises, worksheets, additional materials, presentations, etc.
4.Course evaluation and learning outcomes validation tools:
- Training evaluation questionnaires,
- Tests (e.g. “pre” and “post” tests),
- Participant observation sheets.
We invite you to take a look at the results of the project!
The project “Key competences for people 50+” benefits from funding worth EUR 83,103.00 received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA funds. The aim of the project “Key competences for people 50+” is to expand the educational offer in the field of key competences, taking into account the specificity of people over 50.
